About how a fixture works
This page explains the whole path of an enquiry on our desk, from the first message to the recap. The rules are the same whether the enquiry is for bunkers or for a small product tanker.
The aim is that every principal knows where they stand at each step: what we ask for, what we pass on, and what we never do.
What we do
- Start every enquiry from a complete nomination
- Agree commission in writing before any offer is passed
- Pass firm offers exactly as given
- Put the outcome in a recap that names both principals and states that we act as brokers only
What we need from you
- Vessel name and IMO number
- Port
- Delivery window
- Grade
- Quantity
How it works
01 · Nomination first
Every enquiry starts with the vessel name and IMO number, port, delivery window, grade and quantity. No IMO number, no work on it.
02 · Commission in writing
Our commission, and any split with a co-broker, is agreed in writing before any offer is passed.
03 · Offers word for word
We pass firm offers exactly as the supplier or owner gives them. We never add our own price or claim stock we do not have.
04 · Recap and confirmation
Recaps and confirmations name both principals and state that Velumic acts as brokers only.
Terms
- Nomination first: no IMO number, no work on it
- Offers passed word for word, never our own price or stock we do not have
- Commission, and any co-broker split, agreed in writing before any offer
- Recaps and confirmations name both principals and state that we act as brokers only
- Any fixture we handle is co-broked with an established broker
- We connect principals and never take title to fuel or cargo
