About bunker broking
A ship operator needs fuel delivered at a port in a given window. A supplier has fuel to sell. We sit between the two as brokers only and pass the enquiry and the offers across.
We work alongside established brokers (co-broking). We do not sell fuel and we hold no fuel of our own: we connect principals and never take title.
What we do
- Take the operator's nomination and pass it to suppliers
- Pass each supplier's firm offer to the operator exactly as the supplier gives it
- Agree our commission, and any split with a co-broker, in writing before any offer is passed
- Send a recap that names both principals and states that Velumic acts as brokers only
What we need from you
- Vessel name and IMO number
- Port
- Delivery window
- Grade
- Quantity
How it works
01 · The four steps of a fixture
Every bunker enquiry follows the same four steps as every fixture: nomination, commission in writing, offers word for word, and the recap. They are explained once, on How a fixture works.
Questions
Anything not answered here: ask us.
Do you supply the fuel?
No. We are a small broking desk. The supplier delivers and invoices; we connect the two principals.
What if I do not have the IMO number yet?
We cannot start without it. No IMO number, no work on it.
Will you quote me a price?
No. We pass the supplier's offer exactly as given and do not add a price of our own.
Do you work alone?
No. Any fixture we handle is co-broked with an established broker.
