Velumic Foundation invests in learning, in the living world, and in the memory of civilisation.

It is the group’s non-profit arm, being established under Section 8 to work in three areas that markets tend to underfund: the education of young scientists, the protection of ecosystems and animal life, and the care of civilisational heritage. The Foundation does not run its own programmes so much as stand behind the people who do.

Education & Scientific Incubation

Scientific careers are shaped by access — to a mentor, a bench, a first grant — long before they are shaped by talent. The Foundation's first commitment is to widen that access: to back students and early-career researchers who have the ability but not the runway, and to give young ideas somewhere to be tested before they are fundable.

  • Scholarships and stipends for students in science and engineering
  • Fellowships and bench space for early-career researchers
  • Small grants for exploratory work too early for conventional funding
  • Mentoring links between working scientists and students

Ecological Preservation & Animal Welfare

Ecological loss is rarely dramatic. It is usually a habitat that shrinks, a migration route that closes, a population that no one was counting. The Foundation supports the patient work that slows and reverses this — protecting and restoring habitat, caring for animals in human hands and in the wild, and funding the field research that tells conservationists where to act.

  • Habitat protection and restoration, delivered with local partners
  • Support for animal rescue, rehabilitation, and sanctuary work
  • Funding for population surveys and ecological field research
  • Community programmes that ease human–wildlife conflict

Civilisational Heritage

A civilisation keeps itself legible through its manuscripts, monuments, crafts, and languages — and any of these can be lost in a single generation of neglect. The Foundation supports the people doing the unglamorous work of preservation: conserving objects and sites, recording practices before their last holders are gone, and opening the results to scholars and the public.

  • Conservation of manuscripts, artefacts, and historic sites
  • Documentation of endangered crafts, oral traditions, and languages
  • Support for archives and museums, including digitisation
  • Fellowships for scholars in history, archaeology, and conservation

Our approach

  • Partners, not beneficiaries

We fund people and organisations already doing the work, and defer to their judgement on the ground.

  • Long horizons

Education, ecology, and heritage all compound slowly. We commit for years, not for single grant cycles.

  • Quiet capital

The Foundation seeks no naming rights and no publicity. Credit stays with the people doing the work; we ask only for honest reporting on what worked and what did not.

Get involved

Velumic Foundation is being established now, and we are looking for the first partners to build it with — organisations working in these three areas, funders who want to give alongside the group, and people who can offer time or expertise.
